Renewable Energy Long Island (RELI) publishes a list of licensed renewable energy contractors for the Long Island, NY region. As the licensing requirements frequently change, RELI turned to Skypanther for a flexible, real-time web-based solution. Together, the system we built enables contractors to enter the required information, provides RELI's staff with easy tools for reviewing and approving new contractors, and dynamically outputs screened contractors on RELI's SunshineIsFree.org web site.

The recently-updated site includes a sortable, county-specific listing of pre-screened contractors. Click the first image at the right for a larger view or visit the site to see it live.

Along with updated pages for listing contractors, we created a new back-end administration system, shown in image two. This system enables RELI staff to securely manage the contractor listings: adding, editing, and removing contractors, categories, licenses, and much more. The admin pages make heavy use of jQuery and various plug-ins to enable sortable, searchable lists of contractors. Perhaps the best use of jQuery is the drag-and-drop screening process page, shown as image three. RELI simply drags a contractor's "chip" from one column to another to both mark the contractor as pending-approval or pre-screened and to publish that contractor on the public listing page.
